Ghost Hunting: The Incinerator
After pulling a few little trout out of the Powder River, we lunched and drove through New Bridge and back onto Oregon-86. Just before the turnoff to Pine, we came across another surprise-- a battered old incinerator, an antique facility for the burning of sundry crap.

The local fauna seemed to appreciate this rusty old thing. Jerry spotted a nesting owl, but startled it away before anyone else could get a good look at it. Eric pointed out several half-devoured mouse corpses littering the ashen floor, and also some deer diggings against the inside walls. On our second visit, when we were on our way back to Cornucopia, we stopped to take more pictures, and three deer darted out of the incinerator when we approached.
